VANCOUVER, Wash. — Oregon’s cyclocross season kicked off in earnest Saturday at David Douglas Park, a popular neighborhood gathering point with ballfields, playgrounds and some dense woods in the center. The weather was beautiful, but blue skies gave way to brown as smoke from fires in Central Oregon and Mt. Hood filtered into the Columbia River Gorge and blew toward Vancouver.
