Another memorable day at Barton Park. Check out the pics.
There will be blood.
Riders looped around the Clackamas County transportation maintenance yard.
Short, steep drops and climbs interrupted the flat sections.
Cowbells were polished and ready for the final Cross Crusade of 2009.
Spectators were happy to direct traffic.
The final run-up before the finish played a big role in the day's racing.
Bikes, mud, fans and dogs. Must be cyclocross in Oregon.
The gravel pit venue provided great racing and a water feature.
The off-camber drop caused a lot of problems.
A tough day for knees.
The mud got tacky and deep in the worst sections.
Once the rain eased the weather was quite pleasant for 'cross.
Julie Swearingen won the masters women 35+ A race.
Beth Burns finished third in the masters women 35+ A race.
The steep, rocky run-up near the finish was an added challenge.
The usual suspects quickly gathered at the front of the men's A Race.
Sean Babcock and Molly Cameron, who started the day separated by just one point overall, battled the entire race.
Eventual winner Emily Van Meter pressed the pace early in the women's A race.
Wendy Williams and Alice Pennington chase Van Meter
Erik Tonkin crests the run-up with Babcock and Cameron close behind.
The leaders remount and get the bell for one lap to go.
Cameron's tangle on the final remount cost her the race and the series.
Sean Babcock took the day's win and the overall crown.
A disappointed Cameron finished third.
Wendy Williams took second and won the overall series title.
The winner was muddy and happy.
Bike racers and tests of upper body strength. This should be interesting.
Now that's some intense action.
