PORTLAND — The first day of the 2010 Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge is in the record books after two sessions of time trials and points races. The highlight of the opening day of racing was Canadian sprint champion Monique Sullivan’s record-breaking performance in the 500m. Category 2 and 3 riders also battled in qualifying points races for the opportunity to compete with the heavy hitters later this weekend.

On tap for Saturday are the men’s keirin, masters and women’s sprint tournaments, women’s five-mile, men’s points race and more. Action starts at 10 a.m. and admission is free. Check it out!
