St. Honoré to host new July crit
PORTLAND, Ore. — St. Honoré Boulangerie hosts its first bike race through the streets of Northwest Portland during the Tour de France on Saturday, July 7, to honor the passion of French cycling and showcase the vibrant Oregon cycling scene.
Teaming up with the Sorella Forte cycling team and Giro Events, the crew responsible for the Giro di Portland Criterium last summer and the Rose Garden Circuit Race this spring, they have put together a flat, 1 km course that features eight corners and wide streets. The course is perfect for racers ranging from beginners to the best men and women in the northwest and will award equal cash prizes in the men’s and women’s fields.
Those interested in learning about bike racing or are new to bike racing are invited to attend the Upper Echelon Fitness beginner clinic at 1 p.m. and ride the course with instruction rom Upper Echelon’s coaches. This clinic is free and open to anyone who is interested; participants must provide their own bike and helmet. The Bicycle Transportation Alliance, which works to promote bicycling and improve bicycling conditions in Oregon, will also be onsite to share information about cycling in Portland and will be running a free kids race.
Racers will enjoy fresh baked goods from St. Honoré and a pint from the Lucky Lab Beer Hall. More information about the race and Pre-registration is available HERE. Day of race registration will open at noon for $25.
