XC Series continues at Hornings Hustle

NORTH PLAINS — The 2011 Oregon XC Series picks up again for round two Sunday at Hornings Hustle outside of North Plains about 20 miles west pf Portland. Sue Butler leads the Pro women’s contest after leading off with a win at Echo Red to Red. Kevin Bradford-Parish leads the Pro men. Race #2 in the series takes place at Horning’s Hideout, a recreation area complete with trout pond, off of Pumpkin Ridge Road.

Promoter Tom Hoffman promises great racing, a band, beer and a bag of Bobs Red Mill Granola to the first 250 contestants. Racing begins at 11 a.m., with staggered starts for different categories. The unique cloverleaf course offers multiple chances to see riders tackle the 10- to 20-mile routes. Cat 3s race two laps. Cat 2s and singlespeeders do three circuits. Pro and Cat 1 racers make four passes around the course.
