MANCHESTER, England — OBRA’s Mindy Simmons (Guinness Cycling Team) is the latest Oregon rider to bring home the rainbow-striped jersey of a world champion after winning the women’s 35-39 Individual Pursuit at the UCI Masters Track World Championships last week in Great Britain.

Saturday, Oct. 15, was the day for individual pursuits. First the riders had to race against the clock to try and make it into the top four, where they would race against their opponent over 2,000 meters.

Simmons made the top four and then faced Australian Sandra Bletchly in the finals, where the Portland rider got off to a fast start, riding the first 1,000 meters almost three seconds faster than her opponent and then hanging on over the last 1,000 meters to win by less than half a second.
