HOOD RIVER — Donald Reeb (cyclcrossracing.com) took the overall lead in the men’s A category of the Grand Prix Molly Cameron Saturday with a win at the Hood River Double Cross, the second race of the GPMC series. Heather Clark (Bend Memorial Clinic Total Care) won the women’s A race in Hood River and scored her first points of the GPMC.

Reeb renewed his battle with Steve Carwile (EvanPlews.com) that started during GPMC#1 two weeks before at David Douglas Park in Vanvouver, where the pair fought a back-and-forth duel for second place behind runaway winner Ryan Trebon (LTS/Felt). With the two-time National Champion racing the UCI events in Seattle over the weekend, Reeb and Carwile were left to battle for maximum series points Saturday.

Reeb got the upper hand early on the course at Hood River Valley High School and finished nearly a minute and a half ahead of Carwile, who was locked in another battle for second, this time with Brett Luelling (MetaFilter). Carwile nipped Luelling at the line for second place again and secure the second overall series spot as well. Luelling’s teammate Molly Cameron finished next for fourth, with Michael Benno (Veloce Racing) claiming the fifth spot.

Clark won the women’s A race by nearly two and half minutes, outdistancing the women’s field from the early running. Brigette Brown (River City Bicycles/Ridley/NoTubes) crossed the line for second ahead of Beth Orton (Team S&M), Jennifer Cree (Upper Echelon Fitness) and¬†Taylor Shekey (Team Beer) rounding out the top five.

The next race of the Grand Prix Molly Cameron takes place Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Heiser CX.
