IZEGEM, Belgium — Portland’s Kolben Preble has been living and competing in Belgium this past month as part of the Euro Cross Camp that provides top-level experience to some of this country’s best cyclocross riders and helps prepare them for the World Championships in late January.

Participants left for Europe on Dec. 15 and will return on Jan. 2 after having had the opportunity to compete in at least 10 races during the 16-day trip. Twenty riders and their support staff live in the USA Cycling team house in Izegem while in Belgium, and Preble provided a glimpse of life at the house during a rest day in a diary he wrote for cyclingnews.com.
