Pennington, Babcock top Bear Springs

MT. HOOD — Team S&M Young Guns Sean Babcock and Alice Pennington took the top honors in the men’s and women’s Pro races Sunday at the Bear Springs Trap XC on Mt. Hood.

Babcock finished more than four minutes ahead of Kona’s Erik Tonkin and more than eight minutes ahead of teammate Patrick Means in third. Pennington got an early advantage over Sue Butler (River City Bicycles) and finished nearly two minutes ahead for the win. Webcyclery.com’s Heidi Fall finished third, more than eight minutes after Pennington.

Bear Springs Trap XC is the fourth race of the 10-race Oregon XC Series.
