HOOD RIVER — Cycling fans saw an incredible day of breakaway racing at the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic Stage 3 Criterium Saturday night. Two-time Elite criterium and time trial national champion Mike Olheiser (Juwi Solar/First Solar) broke away on the first corner of the first lap and then held off the 134-rider field for 60 minutes to take the stage win and the race leader’s jersey.

In the women’s race, a five rider breakaway including Southern Oregon’s Jade Wilcoxson lapped the field before Katie Antonneau took the stage win. Wilcoxson was second and moved up to fifth on GC. Alison Starnes (Peanut Butter & Co. Twenty-12) is still in the leader’s jersey, with her teammate Kristin Armstrong and Pactimo Cycling’s Clara Hughes behind her, both 13 seconds back.
