Monday PIR is a wrap for season

PORTLAND — Rockey Serna (West End Bikes/Specialized) took the final Masters Cat 1/2/3 win of the Monday PIR season and wrapped up the August series overall as well. Heather VanValkenburg (Diamond Law Cycling) got the win Monday night in the Senior women’s race and earned the August series overall for her efforts.

Serna finished the evening with 22 points, a full 12 points better than runner-up John Micthem, his teammate. Cliff Heaberlin (Guinness Cycling Team) was third with 13 points. VanValkenburg took her win with 22 points in front of Upper Echelon Fitness rider Elise Huggins, who scored 20 points, and Ironclad Performance Wear’s Jenn Levo in third with 13.

Mark Adamski (Portobello Bicycle Racing) took the win in the Masters 30+ Cat 4/5 race, finishing ahead of Peter Seelig (Dr Will Bar) and Glenn Johnson (Lewis & Clark Ultra). Richard Horacek (Stumptown Cycling Club) won the Masters Novice race ahead of Jeff Wygant (Team Highlander) and Alex Croy (The Spokesmen). Kristy Fleming won the women’s Novice race ahead of Lisa George (Portobello Bicycle Racing) and Kathleen Hellem.
