PORTLAND — Shannon Skerritt (Corsa Concepts) added to his perfect score Monday night at the eight-week Portland MTB Short Track Series with just one week remaining. Skerritt has gone undefeated this season on the course around PIR’s infield and added a week #7 win in front of Josh Kelly and teammate Aaron Tuckerman.

The women’s overall race is quite a bit closer, with Brooke McDermid (bicycleattorney.com) battling Christy Love (Team S&M) for the overall title. McDermid took the win in front of Love this week, giving her a slim one point series lead over the Team S&M rider with just one race remaining. The series is based on the best seven of eight races, and McDermid has already missed a race while Love has had prefect attendance and scored points each week, which means McDermid’s one-point margin is actually larger than it appears.

The 2011 Portland MTB Short Track Series concludes Monday, Aug. 1. Short Track racers will also have a chance to tune their legs Saturday at the Westview OBRA MTB Short Tack Championships on Portland’s west side.
