Farrar in PDX with Rathe Saturday night

PORTLAND — Tour de France stage winner Tyler Farrar of the Garmin-Slipstream UCI Professional cycling team will join his new teammate Jacob Rathe, of Portland, Saturday night for a presentation and autograph session at Upper Echelon Fitness.

Farrar, is a stage winner in the Tour de France, Giro di Italia and Vuelta Espana. Rathe, a Portland resident and cycling prodigy that started with the Beaverton Bicycle Club, will race hi9s first UCI Pro season the Garmin-Slipstream team in 2012.

Dave Towle, announcer at the Tour of California and one of America’s premier cycling announcers, will MC the event. The presentation will review the highs and lows of 2011 and offer insight into the life of a professional cyclist. This will be an educational evening with two of the fastest and nicest professional cyclists in the world.

There will be no charge to attend the event, but a $5-$10 donation to the OBRA Junior Cyclocross Series is encouraged. Laurelwood Brewing will provide beverages, and Madison’s Grill will provide the snacks.
