Wilmes, Butler open Pain+Suffer’n with short track wins

BALD PEAK — Short track specialist Doug Wilmes (Portland Bicycle Studio) won the Pro men’s race and Sue Butler (River City Bicycles) took the Pro women’s event to start the weekend off with wins Friday night at the Pain+Suffer’n MTb Short Track, the first of three events this weekend. But it was the Butler and Butler show for the overall battles as River City’s Tim Butler, racing in the Cat 1 35-44 division, was the fastest man on the track. The same Bald peak venue hosts an MTB cross country race Saturday and a cyclocross race Sunday.
