Team Oregon's Chris Swan won the OBRA award for best all-around rider in the Senior Men's category.

After a full season of racing, Chris Swan (Team Oregon) squeaked past Capital Subaru Cycling’s Evan Plews to win the OBRA Senior Men’s Best All Around rider Award for 2009. Swan racked up 1,203 points compared with Plews’ 1,202 tally. DeSalvo Custom Cycles’ Ben Thompson was third at 1,154 points.

In the Senior Women’s BAR competition, Therapeutic Associates’ Pamela Archer tied teammate Jacqueline Cohen with 1,340 points. Veloforma’s Alice Pennington was third with 1241.

The Oregon Best All-Around Rider (BAR) award is a year-round, multi-discipline competition open to annual members. There are eight separate discipline rankings, one each for Road, Track, Criterium, Time Trial, Cyclocross, Cross-country Mountain Biking, and and Downhill/SuperD.

Team Oregon’s Kennett Peterson walked away with the Senior men’s Oregon Cup, a year-long six-race points series. Peterson notched 256 points to finish ahead of Hutch’s Paul Bourcier (244) and Land Rover/ORBEA’s Roman Van Uden (205).

Lisa Turnbull (Therapeutic Associates) dominated the Senior Women’s competition with 420 points. Team Group Health’s Jen Akeroyd was second with 235, and Bend Bike ‘n Sport’s Teri Sheasby was third with 220.

Hammer Velo’s Anna Vaughan won the Cat. 4 Women’s series ahead of Kalli Phillips (Poplollies) and Alice Chang (Hammer Velo).

Brian Fawcett won the annual Ironman competition, which tracks the number of events OBRA members have participated in during the season. Fawcett (Pistis) hit 85 races this year, just five ore than second-place finisher Melissa Boyd (Pacific Power/Blue Sky). Team Rose City’s Paul Mautner was third with 79.
